“NIRAGNIPAAKA” – A Fireless Cooking Event Rooted in Ayurvedic Wisdom
The Department of Ayurveda Samhita Siddhanta evum Samskrutam at SPSAMC organized a unique and insightful event, “NIRAGNIPAAKA”, on 5th June 2025. This fireless cooking competition was specially curated for First Professional BAMS students (Batch 2024–25), as a part of the Non-Lecture Activity under Samhita Adhyayana Part 1.
Under the expert guidance of Dr. Shivappa, Dr. Roopa Mr, and Dr. Gopika C., the event explored the traditional Ayurvedic knowledge of food preparation without the use of fire. Students were encouraged to creatively prepare dishes exclusively using dravyaas (substances) from the Dravadravyavijnaaneeya and Annaswaroopavijnaaneeya sections of the Ashtanga Hrudaya Sutrasthana.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Swagath N, Principal, SPSAMCHRC, who presided over the program and encouraged the students in their innovative and scholarly pursuits.
“NIRAGNIPAAKA” served as a vibrant platform to combine classical Ayurvedic teachings with practical, hands-on application. The students showcased not just their culinary creativity but also their growing understanding of classical Ayurvedic texts and the importance of Ahara (diet) in holistic health.
