Prof. Dr. A.V. Srinivasan, Founder and Chairman of the Sri Paripoorna Sanathana Charitable Trust, has been appointed AYUSH Commissioner for Africa under the India Africa Trade Council. In this pivotal role, he is leading a transformative mission to introduce India’s time-honored systems of medicine—Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy—to communities across Africa. His vision is to provide preventive, affordable, and holistic health solutions tailored to the continent’s evolving healthcare needs.
Africa’s fast-growing population faces an urgent combination of rising lifestyle-related illnesses and limited access to quality healthcare. AYUSH, with its emphasis on prevention, natural healing, and lifestyle balance, offers a complementary approach to conventional medicine. By addressing chronic diseases, encouraging healthy living, and expanding access to care, AYUSH stands poised to make a meaningful impact.
Since its establishment in 2012, the Sri Paripoorna Sanathana Charitable Trust has been a model of compassion and innovation. Its achievements include:
At the center of this work is the Sri Paripoorna Sanathana International Wellness Centre—a 13,000 sq. ft. facility blending ancient healing traditions with modern science. Inaugurated in the presence of dignitaries from Lesotho and other nations, the centre has attracted strong international interest, particularly from African health leaders.
Africa’s own traditions of healing are rich and deeply rooted. Prof. Dr. Srinivasan’s approach is not to replace these practices, but to integrate evidence-based AYUSH systems in a way that strengthens local healthcare frameworks. This collaborative vision aims to bring the best of both worlds—preserving cultural heritage while introducing structured, scientifically validated methods.
Under his leadership, a series of strategic programs are being developed:
Beyond healthcare, this initiative will stimulate trade and industry. Plans include the promotion of herbal products, AYUSH-based pharmaceuticals, and wellness services, alongside joint ventures and local manufacturing partnerships—driving both public health benefits and economic development.
As AYUSH Commissioner for Africa, Prof. Dr. Srinivasan envisions a lasting healthcare bridge between India and Africa—one built on mutual respect, shared knowledge, and sustainable growth. Through the India Africa Trade Council, AYUSH will evolve from a healthcare system into a global collaborative movement, promoting not only health and wellness but also prosperity and people-to-people connections across continents.
In blending ancient wisdom with modern aspirations, this initiative marks the beginning of a new chapter in holistic healthcare diplomacy—where India and Africa walk together toward a healthier, more harmonious future.
